The River Frigido Valley

A very deep valley, almost unhospitable, but with very different and unique elements in it. Deeply marked by the running waters and by the quarrying activity, this valley offers panoramas of high-mountain environment and rural and pastoral life as well, sometimes still active. The environment and the landscape are dominated by Apuan Alps peaks, and human activities and the history of the local community are very so linked to the natural elements: water, rocks and wood. From Forno village we will meet on our way ancient cultivation terraces, reaching a surprising and abandoned Onix Quarry.We will reach, under the highest peaks, the “Pizzo Bandiera” with a nice view on the River Frigido spring, where we will descend on. We end up visiting the ancient structure of the FILANDA (a Spinning Mill dated 1891), that deeply modified the local Community since its settlement more than 100 years ago, and that still characterizes the valley's  landscape and history with its presence
